The Pastor's Pen

In Revelation 4:11 the 4 living creatures & the 24 Elders fall down & Worship Lord God Almighty, saying, “You are worthy (of Worship), O Lord, to receive glory & honor & power (& praise).”  In Heaven, we are going to fall down & Worship God, casting our crowns at His feet, giving Him all the glory & praise, why don’t we do it now, in Church every Sunday?  We can go through the motions, praising, praying, preaching, without truly Worshipping God.

Worship is Not a Place, but His Presence, Not an Event, but an Experience, Not the Music, but the Message & Not the Preaching, but our Passion for Jesus.  Real Worship is our Lifestyle, (Rom 12:1-2) Loving & Living for Jesus.  Where we Worship; temple, Church, or Home, is not as important as Who we Worship; Satan, Self, or the Savior, & How we Worship; in Spirit & in Truth.  Jesus said to Love (Worship) Him with ALL our Heart, Mind, Soul & Strength.

The Purpose of Worship is to Communicate with God, He speaks, we listen, to Celebrate the Son of God, who He is & what He’s done, to Confess our Sins against God, admit it, He’s right, we’re wrong, & to make a Commitment to God, to Re-Commit our Hearts & Lives to Him, to Return to our First Love.  We can Confess our Sins, Celebrate Jesus, even Communicate with God, but if we fail to Respond (Re-Commit) to Him, we truly haven’t Worshipped.

Your Passion for Worship comes from your Relationship with God, Who, or Why are you Worshipping?  There can be no Public Worship without any Private Worship prior to Sunday’s Services!

“You are Worthy, Worthy of Worship & Praise.”

Carol's Notes

As I reflected on the past few weeks and tried to find some inspiration for this newsletter, one thought kept running through my mind…all the “firsts” that have occurred the last few weeks.  You’d think you would reach a point in life when there would be no more new things to experience but I’m grateful these “firsts” are still coming.  For the first time I was able to watch my 10-year-old granddaughter play soccer.  For the first time I made a “goodie” box to send Morgen at CNU.  For the first time I was privileged to direct the Associational Choir.  Aren’t we glad that the Lord continues to give us new opportunities and new experiences?  One of the greatest “first” is waiting out there for all of God’s children…our first day in Heaven.  As the song says, “I can only imagine” what that day will be like but what a first to look forward to experiencing.

Broken has a first coming for us later this month.  We’ve been invited to do a concert of music and testimony at Bedford Baptist.  Pray with us as we begin preparations for this new opportunity.

We as a church have a “first” to look forward to for our Fifth Sunday Sing this month.  The Mark Dubbeld family will be leading us in worship that day.  Mark has been singing full-time for more than 27 years.  His wife, Janene, writes most of the music for the family.  They are joined in the ministry with their children Vincent, Leighton, Elena, Channing and Britton.  Mark your calendar for this unique and powerful blend of family harmony in a concert of worship, testimony and praise.

Hope everyone has a fabulous Fall season and an outstanding October, and remember…Keep Singing!

Youth

There have been many changes going on in the Youth Group.  The Youth room was recently expanded by taking down a wall giving an extra 10 feet, and we are still in the process of making some more renovations.  We are planning on putting a small stage in, painting the ceiling, repainting the walls, and putting up new stage lights.  All of these things should come to fruition within the next month.  So we invite you to come on down and check it out once it is finished.

On Wednesday and Sunday nights, the Youth Group is currently going through an in-depth study of Paul’s first epistle to the Corinthians.  We are currently in chapter 6 of the epistle, and it has been going on for about 2 months or so.

We have recently launched a Sunday morning youth service in which we are providing the Youth with their style of worship and lessons specifically geared towards furthering their knowledge of the Bible.  The series is called “Six Books that Every Christian Should Know” and those books are:  Genesis, John, Romans, Ephesians, James, and Revelation.  We are currently starting the book of John.

The girl’s Monday night Bible Study, “Me Myself and Lies”, came to a close last week completing their seventh and final week.
