“The Trinity Trumpet”

“Seeking Him, Serving Him”

Volume 42 Number 6               June 2009

Pastor's Pen - Numbers - Carol's Notes - Youth - Pantry

The Pastor’s Pen!!!

If you only 30 days had to live, or 30 days before the Rapture, what would you change, or do different? Most of us would reassess our priorities, What’s most important, & reassess our relationships, Who’s most important? I preached a series of sermons on Living with only 30 days to Live. I shared 4 principles gleaned from “One Month to Live,” by Kerry & Chris Shook.

No time to sit back & enjoy the ride, it’s time to Live Passionately. Jesus said, “I have come to give you Life & life more abundantly.” (John 10:10) Paul said, “for me to Live is Christ.” (Phil 1:21) It’s all about Him! He’s the Reason for Living!

But you also have to Love Completely. The Great Commandment is to Love God with ALL our heart, mind, soul & strength, & our neighbor as ourselves. (Matt 22:36-40) Jesus asked Peter, “Do you Love Me?” (John 21:15) Do we really, really, really Love God, & others, with everything we have, all the time?

The 3rd principle is to Learn Humbly. God told Solomon, “If My people, shall Humble themselves…” (2 Chron 7:14). James said, “Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord & He will lift you up.” (James 4:7-10) Remember Who you are, a sinner saved by Grace, but never forget Whose you are, a child of the King.

The last principle is to Leave Boldly. We will all stand before the Judgment Seat of Christ where our works will be judged, & we will earn our rewards. What lasting Legacy will we leave, a Legacy of a Life of Faith & Trust? 30 Days to Live! Let’s Live It!

"Soon & very Soon, we are Going to See the King!"

Carol's Notes

Reflecting back on the month of May, I was so pleased with several "newcomers" who sang for our morning worship services. I can't wait to invite them to come visit us again. A big thanks to Stephanie Johnson and the Patrick Henry Plantation Choir for their beautiful contributions of music. It's fun to find new faces to share their musical talent but we are so blessed to have so many talented musicians in our own congregation. We'll be hearing from some of our "home folk" in the coming weeks.

Summer officially begins this month and that means vacation time for many of us. I’m particularly excited about an upcoming trip to Italy to visit with Michael & Sonia and have the chance to spoil those four granddaughters for about 10 days. Time to get away and relax is good for all of us but let’s not forget about our Church and the services and activities that continue to take place all during this time. Choir family, I want to thank you for your faithfulness to the music program and encourage you to continue through the summer. I’ll see if I can’t plan a Wednesday night or two when we can “play hooky” but we’ll have to promise to work hard on the weeks before and after those nights!

The choir will be doing patriotic music in celebration of our nation’s independence on Sunday, June 28th. Please plan to join us for a time of celebration, praise and prayer for our country.

Thanks to so many of you for your words of encouragement regarding the music you hear from the choir, soloists and the piano. It’s wonderful to know that lives are being touched by our efforts. That’s really all we pray for is that God will bless our efforts and use what is done for His glory. As the song says, “without a doubt we’ll know that we have been revived when we shall leave this place”. Come join us every Sunday for a time of revival and renewal as we worship together.
