The Pastor’s Pen!!!
Welcome to 2008! Think about it, this could be the year Jesus comes back to Rapture His Church. The Trumpet will sound, and those who are Saved by the Blood of the Lamb will be changed and rise to meet Him in the air.
Think about it, the signs of His Coming are taking place even as I write this. Israel is once again a nation, prophesied in Ezekiel 36-38, and what Jesus described in Matthew 24 is taking place on a global scale. There are famines and floods, pestilences, earthquakes in various places, wars and rumors of wars all around the world. Not since the Cold War have we seen nations line up for battle as third world countries race for nuclear weapons. Even if you don’t agree with global warming, you have to admit, the weather is weird throughout the world, it definitely is not the way it used to be, something’s changed. Violence, human atrocities, like genocide, and acts of wickedness by mankind have increased tenfold.
Think about it, Jesus could come back at any time, whether this year, the next, or even 10-20 years from now. Are you ready for Him to come back? If you knew Jesus was coming back this year, what would you change, what would you do different? Do you think maybe you should go ahead and make those changes, now? No one knows when, but He just might come back, at any time. Is everybody you know, every one of your family, going? If not, or even if you’re not sure, who do you need to talk to? While we are waiting for Jesus to return, we need to be working for Him, witnessing to others about Him.
Come on Down, Lord Jesus, your Bride is Ready!

Starting the Year Off Right
It seems in a lot of today’s churches one of the groups that gets left behind is the Youth. I’m not sure if it’s because they look different, act a little crazy, or people do not know how to handle them. Overall though they tend to get looked down upon by the rest of the church. However, this does not seem to be the case at Trinity Baptist Church (hence why I said in a lot of Churches). One of the neatest things that I have noticed over the last six months or so that I have had the privilege of working with this youth group is that the Church as a whole has seemed to endear them, encourage them, and in many respects, uplift them. As a first-time Youth Pastor, I have come to enjoy the fact that this Church has opened up their hearts to the youth group and tried to encourage them to serve the Lord. It is a rare thing in most Churches, yet in this Church it has had an impact.
As someone involved in ministry for most of my life this type of behavior is very rare. I have had the opportunity to work with a bunch of different youth-aged kids, whether as a Camp Counselor, Assistant Summer Staff Supervisor or even working with College students. One of the coolest things I have noticed is that not only does this Church care about the youth, but the youth as a whole seem to be stronger in their walk with the Lord and their desire to serve Him. There is no greater joy in knowing there are youth who are striving to serve the Lord, and the best part about it is that I came into a situation where this was already happening. My goal now, knowing what God has done in their life and knowing their desire and passion for the Lord, is to continue to try to spur that relationship with Christ in the right direction. I truly believe this is the desire of not only the Pastor, but also the rest of the Church. I just want to publicly thank the Pastor & the whole Church for this & encourage the Church to strive to continue to be used by the Lord in this area. God is working mightily in the youth group and He is using everyone in the Church to do so!
I also thought I would share the direction that we are hopefully going in the youth group. Presently we are involved in two series, one on Sunday night talking about Relationships, how to grow in your relationship with the Lord and others; and another on Wednesday night talking about the Patriarchs of the Old Testament, leading up to the Ten Commandments. I am really excited to see where God is going to take this and the different series we will be doing after this. Continue to pray for the youth group and their growth. Pray for God to continue to put a fire in them to grow in their walk, share their faith with others, and be a light in a dark world.
