The Pastor's Pen
I started another Sermon Series in March called the “7 Realities of Experiencing God,” taken from Henry Blackaby’s book, “Experiencing God – Knowing and Doing the Will of God.” Not only can you Know God & Know His Will, you can also Experience His Presence & His Power in your personal life as well as in Church.
The 7 Realities of Experiencing God begins with a presupposition: GOD IS, He has always existed! Consequently, God is always at Work around us, whether we see Him working or not. Jesus said, “The Son of Man has come to seek & save the lost.” In order to save people, God pursues a continuing Love Relationship with us that is real & personal. “God is not willing that any should perish.” God went looking for Moses because he had a job for him to do. God invites us to become involved with Him in His Work. God told Moses, “I’ve seen the affliction of My people & I have come down to deliver them.” God was already at work, but wanted Moses to join him, “Go tell Pharaoh, Let My people go.”
Because God is Spirit, He speaks to us by the Holy Spirit through the Bible, prayer, circumstances & the Church, to Reveal Himself, His purposes and His ways. How God speaks to us is not as important as Hearing Him speak. If you can’t hear God speaking, you are in trouble at the heart of your relationship. But when God speaks to us; that’s His invitation to join Him. God’s invitation for us to join Him always leads to a Crisis of Belief that requires both Faith & Action. It’s not enough just to Believe, Faith requires putting your Beliefs into Action, to Trust & Obey. You can’t stay where you are & go with God. To go with God, we must make major adjustments in our life to join God in what He is doing. We have to Change from being Self-centered to Christ-centered, Submissive to our Father’s Will. Finally, we come to Know God by experience as we Obey Him & He accomplishes His Work through us. Knowing God means Fellowshipping with Him, knowing the Fullness of His Joy & experiencing the Forgiveness of our Sins as we grow closer to Him.
You can Know God personally & let Him use you for His Glory.

This year is “MARCHing” on! (Sorry, couldn’t help myself-:)) This is a wonderful time of year. We know that spring is just around the corner. But for just a moment I would like to look back on February.
Spring is here and I sure am enjoying the warmer weather. The trees are budding out, some flowers are blooming and the feeling of the warm sunshine on my face is just wonderful! Also, the fact that I don’t have to bundle up in a heavy coat, scarves, gloves and hat when I head out the door is pretty nice!
We have some soul stirring music planned for this Easter Sunday. The choir, with the help of the congregation, will be singing “He’s Alive”. This is a song that can raise the rafters and would sound just as good shouting as it would be singing it. Also, Barbara Chittum will be singing a favorite, “I Know My Redeemer Lives”, made popular by Nicole C. Mullins. It has been a while since Barbara has sung this and, if my memory serves me correctly, it gave us all chills. Last but not least our Choir will be singing a special anthem that is absolutely beautiful.
Along with the music, Pastor Vernon will deliver God’s moving and inviting message of hope. You definitely do not want to miss this opportunity to give thanks to and worship our Risen Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!
April also has a 5th Sunday and we are planning a “5th Sunday Celebration”. There will be a special surprise and I’m not telling, so you will just have to come and see for yourself!
May each of you have a blessed Easter and remember, until we meet again....KEEP ON SINGING!
